#NeverMoore

Not all grassroots organizers will agree with each other on our endorsements. As I stated before, the endorsements I made were hard, for many reasons. I obviously don’t live in multiple congressional districts so obviously I’m an outsider looking in to other areas and making choices based on what information I can gather.
I live just outside Manvel, in CD22. I am in the boundaries of PISD. My endorsement here wasn’t taken lightly. It’s important for me to spell out that of the candidates, one of them stood out as someone that I cannot work with. Nyanza Moore has expressed some misogynistic, and anti-trans rhetoric. While I acknowledge that people can grow and learn, her latest actions prove to me that she isn’t apologetic regarding her views, but rather apologetic that she’s been caught expressing troubling views.

Some people have had different interactions with Nyanza. Whenever I’ve confronted her directly about her transphobic comments she has steadfastly refused to acknowledge that she even made them. When I presented video evidence, she’s ignored me.
It’s also important to note that Nyanza didn’t bother screaming with the GLBT Caucus for an endorsement. As she’s said publicly, she knows who her base is, and she doesn’t seem to care about reaching across to others.

In PISD we have a district led by a superintendent that is blatant in his prejudices and torment of Trans students. We cannot empower such hate by allowing Nyanza to be our Democratic candidate in 22.

I have posted about her hate rhetoric before. Here are the videos again. This is blatant hatred and ignorance. A public apology must be issued before I’ll reconsider this.

I have nothing but respect for everyone else who’s doing the work of vetting candidates. Thank you for all that you do!
